How it's calculated

tiles = area × 144 ÷ (tile length × tile width) × (1 + waste)

Grout joints are small enough to ignore in the count. Straight layouts need about 10% extra for cuts at the edges. Diagonal and herringbone layouts cut more tiles, so use 15%. Keep a few spare tiles after the job for future repairs: later batches rarely match in color.
